Born in Harrisburg, Illinois and grew up on a farm. In my adult years I had a strong desire to study art. I worked for Dallas Civic Opera for 5 years and then moved to Louisiana where I was able to participate in art workshops and seminars with other aspiring artists. In addition to oil and watercolor instruction I enjoyed classes in decorative arts such as those used by craftsmen in European and Oriental countries to enhance furniture and gifts.
I enjoy doing designs for new homes on tile and commissions on furniture for Interior Decorators. In 2007 I designed and painted a 35 ft. mural in the Texas Gospel Music Hall in Athens.
Nickelodeon Magazine of New York published my design for a 5th birthday plate on their anniversary. Martin F. Weber Co. published an article I submitted for the “Teachers Notebook Column.”
My work has won multiple awards in local and state competitions. I share my enjoyment of art by doing demonstrations and teaching classes and workshops.
I am a member of the Henderson County Art Society, Athens; the Star Harbor Watercolor Society, Star Harbor; the Central Texas Watercolor Society, Waco and Decorative Painters of Wichita, Kansas.
